Lunar Tokens
What's the best thing to do with these tokens? Turn them into Lunar Fortunes and hoard them?

You can try your luck by opening Lunar Fortunes or sell them.
To sell stack for 30e seems to be better than trying you luck. But my sister got 3 dragons from 200 opened fortunes, so this is mostly about luck. Last edited by Sagittario; Feb 05, 2012 at 09:48 PM // 21:48.. |

Well, lunar fortunes are the one way to get the celestial mini. Apart from that, look at the wiki to see who offers what for them, and decide what offers the best deal to you.

Do note that you can "exchange" your tokens for fortunes in an average ratio of 1:2 and get extra blue sugary drinks if you play against "Lucky Hochei" in Lion's Arch. In the long run this will net you 1 lunar fortune for every 2 lunar tokens.
However, since this requires you to play rock-paper-scissors, it will not only cost a lot more time but will also limit the amount of tokens you can "exchange". |

try for mini and horde a stack of fortunes. i opened over 500 fortunes or so and got 5 dragons. i know some people that opened more and didnt get one and those who opened less and gotten over 11. if you have the money you could just buy a unded dragon, then keep the fortunes to resell later. i seen last years and other year fortunes going for alot on guru and in towns xD

I never understand people that open lunars, seems a waste. The best thing to do it to just sell the stack of lunars. You will get about 30-40e if you wait acouple of months.
From the posts here it seems about an average of maybe 3 dragons a stack which, if you sold them all at top end (at the beggining of the event, good luck getting this now) of 10e you will still have made more by just selling the lunars. |

Yep. Pretty useful for SC'ers/solo'ers as it's a permanent +1 boost to all attributes while in the area (no need to reuse unless they die). Just save them once you get your dragon.

I always felt selling stacks for 50-70k/ea (70-90k/ea if ur early)was the most effective thing. They they are more affordable to players sell quicker than stacks of lunars.... after your done making 1000s of K over the weekend just buy celestial for 30-60k/ea if u so desire

Not a good new year.Spend ages farming drops for ingredients, then time collecting tokens to change into fortunes and at the end no, "year pet".Waste of time.Big flop from anet this year.

Wiki reckons that the drop rate is 0.5% and I got mine after 63 fortunes, so I'm happy. Also (and slightly counter-intuitively) I noticed that dragons were still selling for more than the 30-50k I would expect them to go for at the end of the festival. But then, dragons are cooler than rabbits. |

That's akin to blaming the US Mint because you don't get heads every time you flip a coin.
Between me, my friend & my husband, we got 13 dragons this year. Last year, we had to buy rabbits. This is not ANet's flop, nor is it to their credit - it is, in essence, a flip of a coin. It's worth noting that we also opened a few thousand fortunes. We spent weeks leveling up between 8-12 toons on each of 6 different accounts and in the end ran 60 toons through the quests in Factions, and 20 of those 60 through the Nightfall quest. We invested over 100 hours of time in making sure we obtained huge quantities of fortunes to better our chances of finding dragons - so it's not like we had them handed to us on a silver platter, either. We also farmed ectos and saved our platinum just in case the "coin toss" didn't go our way and we would have to buy our dragons... in other words, while we could not actually force the odds to be in our favor, we did what we COULD do to increase the odds that we would end up with dragons of our own - one way or the other. |

The real excitement is in getting on your own said item. It's more fulfilling. "OMG I got a Celestial Turkey, no way!!" Excitement! "I just bought a Celestial Donkey for 8e" Passe |

Still.... I'd have been financially better off selling that stack and buying them. |
